Patti Smith is having a New York moment. The legendary Smith has just opened her latest show Objects of Life, at the Robert Miller Gallery, right off the release of her latest collaborative effort, Patti Smith: Dreams of Life, an 11 year documentary project with Steven Sebring. On January 17th, Smith will be releasing Just Kids, a book about her relationship with the late great Robert Mapplethorpe during their time together in New York and specifically, the Chelsea Hotel– in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Following her book release– Mrs. Smith will be reading poetry with Sam Shepard at the 92Y on January 21st. After the jump– a closer look at New York’s Smith-centric happenings.
