Sexy, racy, feminine, and provocative are the first four words that come to mind upon viewing Ellen von Unwerth’s new collection of work impeccably titled Do Not Disturb, on exhibit at Michael Hoppen Gallery in London.
Ellen, listed as one of Time Magazine’s 100 Fashion Icons, is known for her signature high fashion, sexually styled photographs and this collection undoubtedly showcases this. The decadently hued rooms of Los Angeles’s Madonna Inn set the scene for the femme fatale-like models. The combination of luscious lips, golden-blonde tresses of hair, exquisite lingerie, and the rich interiors of the rooms complement each other all too well.

EMPRESS OF
FASHION
Tracing the history of American fashion it is hard to miss the trails of Eleanor Lambert. Renowned American publicists and founder of Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), The Costume Institute, Fashion Week, and The Best Dressed List. Lambert is the ultimate small town girl who made it big, not only for herself but notably for the American industry of fashion and art. Due to her passion for fashion, interior design, philanthropy and contemporary art, her endeavors made her a groundbreaking pioneer that brought international fame to American fashion and designers alike.
Eleanor Lambert: Still Here is a remarkable biography written by her assistant and fashion historian, John Tiffany. From being appointed by President Lyndon Johnson to the National Council of the Arts , to organizing events in America and Europe, and being involved in directing and founding Museums, Eleanor Lambert accomplished beyond her dreams. In this book, the author depicts her signature styles, skills, and business savviness that are all still emulated today and marked by her indelible footprint traced from history to today’s fashion.

A VISION OF SPAIN
THROUGH ART AND FASHION
This December, the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute presents an exhilarating exhibit analyzing the rich history of Spain's regional clothing styles through the pairing of paintings, by Valencian artist Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida (1863 - 1923), and costumes by contemporary designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Cristian Lacroix, Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld, and more to reflect the impact of Spanish style on modern fashion.
Organized by fashion savants, Oscar de la Renta and Andre Leon Talley, "This exhibit" writes Talley "aims to impart the color, beauty, history, and joy of dressing… Each designer, each dress gives you a glimpse of the beauty of Spain" he describes. This chic assemblage of costume and fashion is sure to inspire and demonstrate Spain's enduring influence on fashion throughout the ages.
Joaquin Sorolla & The Glory Of Spanish Dress is on view 10am - 6pm, Monday - Thursday, 10am - 8pm Fridays and 10am - 5pm Saturdays, at Queen Sofia Spanish Institute / December 2011 - March 10, 2012
